- ➤ On Sunday night, a bicyclist was hit by a vehicle at 7:44 p.m. on Interstate 74 east at milepost 183 and is fighting for their life — they were rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries — and all lanes were closed until 1 a.m. Monday. WAND
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Champaign police responded to a shooting at Oakwood Trace Apartments at 3:03 p.m. on Sunday when they found a vehicle with a 31-year-old man, Anthony Miller, who died from his gunshot wounds on Monday, and they later arrested suspect Zaire Herman — who faces charges for aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated assault and unlawful use of a weapon. - ➤ Chancellor Robert Jones, who has led the University for nine years and will become president of the University of Washington, was named the commencement speaker for the Class of 2025 convocation at Memorial Stadium on May 17. A Champaign County judge rejected junior Yafa Issa’s motion to dismiss a felony mob action charge from her role in a pro-Palestine protest at Alma Mater, and the campus community was also informed of three recent fraternity sexual assaults.
