- ➤ Two Savoy residents — Gladys Taylor and Rollin Wright — turned 100 this month at Villas of Holly Brook while celebrating with family, friends, and a visit from three state lawmakers, and they enjoyed cake and live entertainment that recalled memories from the past. WICS
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office is hiring correctional officers and master control officers to fill about a dozen spots as it gets ready to fully open the renovated jail in early April—more staff are needed as inmates from nearby counties return. WCIA
- ➤ Yesterday, the Champaign Urbana Sanitary District broke ground on a $40 million project to upgrade its wastewater facility that will expand capacity to over 9 million gallons per day and install new water clarifiers and system replacements. The project will also supply methane gas to the University of Illinois power plant for generating heat and power. WICS
- ➤ Governor JB Pritzker declared Illinois Agriculture Trade Day on March 19 to recognize agriculture trade’s role in bolstering jobs and food security—highlighting the industry’s impact on local communities and the state’s economy. WCIA
