- ➤ School districts in Illinois will need to add an Arab American history unit to their social studies classes starting in the 2026-2027 school year if the bill becomes law—teaching about Arab American contributions in government, art, humanities and science. House Bill 2997 passed the House Education Policy Committee on Thursday—by a 9 to 4 vote and now heads to the House floor. WAND

- ➤ Champaign Public Works arborists carved a wooden ILLINI sign at the northeast corner of Walnut and Chester streets in downtown Champaign to support the Illini men’s and women’s basketball teams.
