- ➤ The University is creating a new Division of Parks and Natural Spaces to manage Allerton Park and Retreat Center and the University Arboretum in Urbana, moving the arboretum under direct campus control after 20 years of outside stewardship. Derek Peterson, the current Allerton Park Executive Director, will lead the division and build programs that connect these sites to more people in Champaign—supporting recreation, learning, and community well-being. - ➤ U of I researcher Shelly Zhang leads a team developing a new 3D printed material to help broken bones heal faster—using special stress to aid bone growth.
