ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Two people were hurt in a rollover crash on an I-74 exit ramp at milepost 180 when a Chevrolet pickup truck went off the road on Thursday night — passengers stayed in the truck while the driver fled and were taken to a nearby hospital where their condition is unconfirmed. WCIA

- ➤ Cherry blossoms have bloomed at the Japan House on campus in Urbana, with trees reaching Stage 6 peak bloom along the paths off Lincoln Ave.—Officials advised visitors to respect the gardens by not picking flowers or blocking paths—encouraging a quick stop to enjoy the spring display. WCIA
- ➤ Champaign City Arts Council is hosting its 23rd Annual Boneyard Arts Festival that will showcase nearly 90 local artists (featuring a mix of poetry readings, tango performances, paintings, drawings, and sculptures) and give both new and established artists a chance to exhibit their work. WAND
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Illinois DCFS attorney Deobrah Riley—who began as Senior Regional Counsel on Nov. 16th—was fired for cause effective Aug. 6th after a report found she logged more hours at an unnamed bank than at her official DCFS role. WCIA
- ➤ An attorney at the Department of Children and Family Services in Urbana was fired for cause in August after an Inspector General report found she worked extra bank hours on state time despite disclosing a part-time bank job — the report showed she logged more bank hours than during her DCFS shifts — which violated state policies. The report covered her employment from November 16 to May 15, and DCFS rules do not allow such additional work. WAND
