- ➤ Will Bartee, a senior at the University of Illinois, helped run the bi-annual Urbana-Champaign Books to Prisoners Benefit Sale Saturday afternoon where volunteers sold donated books at $2 for hardcovers and $1 for paperbacks to raise funds for shipping books to Illinois prisons. Organizer Rachel Rasmussen said the event received donations from schools, individuals, and retiring professors and that the next sale will be held on November 1 at the Independent Media Center in Urbana. - ➤ After a busy election week, the Champaign School District will soon seat five new board members as full-term winners Christy Arnold, Tony Bruno and Grace Kang and two-year winners Fatima Ahmed + Justin Michael Hendrix received 15,000 and 10,000 votes respectively. They promised to bring collaboration and review leadership roles, though officials have not yet set the official seating date. WCIA

- ➤ Heavy rain on Friday into Saturday caused roads and bridges in Central Illinois to flood and close. Route 45 in Tolono was under three feet of water after pumps went offline—bridges near Trowbridge and roads in Salem also flooded as crews rescued people and evacuated a trailer park. WCIA
