COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Angela Worthey and Council Member Shauna Clayborn joined community groups at the final Shine the Block indoor session on Friday, May 7 at Y on the Fly. Local organizations shared resources (the series will continue outdoors for spring and summer events) to boost neighborhood engagement.  City of Champaign
  • Wee CU Pantry for Kids served 232 people, including 125 children, at its first event, providing food, clothing and toys to local families — organizer Jerelle Leeks said the next pop-up will take place at Fountain Valley in Rantoul on June 19 at 5 p.m.  WAND

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Stark Excavating and Broeren Russo Construction will close the southbound lane of Fourth Street between Daniel and Chalmers to install sanitary, storm, and water services at 310 Chalmers. The closure begins Monday, May 18 and will reopen Monday, June 1 (if weather permits) while the northbound lane stays open.  City of Champaign
