ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday at 7:30 p.m., the Sangamon Valley Fire Protection District responded to a storage building near 2800N and 900E in Dewey that was fully engulfed in flames and quickly extinguished the fire after determining that an active burn pile — windy conditions sparked the blaze. WCIA
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Thousands attended the University of Illinois commencement over the weekend across Champaign-Urbana venues (Memorial Stadium and Virginia Theatre) as graduates celebrated years of hard work and looked forward to new beginnings. Max Ando, a jazz major who will attend law school, and Bonnie Kim, who finished her communications degree after many years, encouraged others to follow their dreams. WCIA
- ➤ The new Unit 4 school board voted to begin its search for a new superintendent, a move that has drawn sharp criticism from community members who support current superintendent Dr. Sheila Boozer (she began in July 2021 and her contract ends next year). Board President Tony Bruno said the decision is a proactive measure, while locals remain concerned by actions such as changing meeting arrangements (which they view as disrespectful). WICS
