CRIME NEWS

  • Saveiontae A. Johnson, 18, was charged with armed violence, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and multiple drug counts after officers stopped his car for dark-tinted windows—during the search they found $10,000 in cash, 41 grams of raw cannabis and a semi-automatic handgun, and he was held pending arraignment on June 20.  WCIA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A bill requiring the Illinois State Board of Education to set guidelines on using artificial intelligence in elementary and secondary schools headed to Gov. JB Pritzker. The plan asks the board to include basic AI concepts, teacher resources, and measures on bias, privacy + risk, with guidelines due by July 1 and a push for school districts to gather American Sign Language teaching resources by next July.  WAND
