COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Salvation Army of Champaign County will celebrate National Donut Day on Friday, June 6 by delivering donuts to first responders and community partners in 55 stops starting at 8:30 a.m.—they will distribute 60 boxes of Parlor Donuts as a reminder of their long-standing community service. - ➤ The Girl Scouts of Central Illinois announced that they will move from their current service center to a larger facility on Round Barn Road that includes a Build-A-Bear workshop and expanded programming for troop meetings and trainings. The current center will close on June 16, the new facility will open on June 24, and the Build-A-Bear workshop will begin on July 1 — providing updated resources for Girl Scouts and local community members. - ➤ A Mahomet mother, Angela Palivos, won a court case that kept her from being evicted from her home in Candlewood Estates after management banned the trampoline needed for her autistic son’s therapy—her doctor’s note proved its value. The ruling stated that the property management broke Illinois's Human Rights Act and they now have 30 days to file an appeal. WCIA

- ➤ A Niemann Foods representative said that County Market pharmacy locations in Springfield and Champaign will close on June 10—prescriptions will be transferred to CVS as posted on store signs. WAND
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Urbana City Council approved a plan to move millions from the general operating budget to the central TIF fund—this loan will pay Hotel Royer $5.2 million for its redevelopment reimbursement and will be repaid with bonds issued early next year; the payment is due 70 days after the hotel's April opening.
