- ➤ On May 31, 34 neighbors joined the Timberline Valley South HOA clean-up to drop off mattresses, box springs, and other bulk items for proper disposal—group leaders coordinated dumpster rentals and sign-ups in advance. The HOA also partnered with a nearby group to recycle metal for a fundraiser and collected gently used items for donation, while registered neighborhood groups can now apply for up to $2000 in grant funds for future clean-ups. - ➤ On June 2, 2025, the Mittendorf Neighborhood Association held a block party to celebrate solar powered yard lights purchased with small grant funds—volunteers installed the lights and group leaders met with Public Works Engineering to review placement aimed at deterring vehicle break-ins. The neighborhood plans to install extra lights along Mittendorf Drive—which currently lacks street lights—in the near future. City of Champaign
- ➤ The Champaign Farmers Market will move to its former location at the southern end of the parking lot at the corner of Neil and Washington adjacent to the new Downtown Plaza on June 10 and will operate every Tuesday through October 28 from 3 to 6 p.m. The event will also include new musical programming from the City of Champaign (Rhythm and Roots), games, and alcoholic beverage options available to adults. - ➤ Champaign Farmers Market will move Tuesday, June 10 to its former spot at the southern end of the parking lot on Neil and Washington—adjacent to the Downtown Plaza—and will bring new live music including Rhythm and Roots on the main stage along with an experience tent and games for shoppers. The market is hosted by The Land Connection and will run every Tuesday from Oct. 28 from 3-6 p.m. while offering adults alcoholic beverages as part of the Downtown Festival District event. WCIA

- ➤ Fire chief Andy Quarnstrom of the Champaign Fire Department will retire on July 14 after nearly 28 years of service + he will become the village administrator for Savoy following his retirement. WICS
