- ➤ Thursday saw C-U at Home host Demo Day at its new Mattis Ave. location in Champaign, where the facility is set to support 26 residents & approved by City Council late last year. Work will finish the center by the end of 2025 & an on-site store will let neighbors supply specialty items. WCIA

- ➤ Danville’s Royal Donut announced it will open a store this fall at 1105 Windsor Road in Champaign after Pandamonium Doughnuts closed on June 28—bringing the longtime Danville brand to a new community. The shop will serve Mad Goat Coffee daily and is looking to hire a manager for the expansion. WCIA

- ➤ Champaign police are looking for a suspect after a shooting on July 4 that left one man dead and vehicles damaged at about 12:30 a.m. on the 1900 block of W. Bradley Avenue—witnesses with camera footage are asked to call 217-351-4545. WAND
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ An eight-ball pool team from Mahomet—Welcome to Southpaw—won a May qualifier among 24 teams and will compete at a five-day world championship in Las Vegas starting August 5. The team plays every Wednesday at Southpaw Billiards and will hold a raffle on July 30 to help cover travel expenses as they face over 700 teams from six countries. WCIA
