The Air Force held a public meeting in Rantoul Wednesday to inform residents about efforts to remove PFAS contamination at the former Chanute Base.

Officials said improved data collection has helped assess the extent of the cleanup process.

Starting Monday, July 13, as part of the Annual Paving Project, Cross Construction will begin milling and paving from Hill Street to 200 feet south of Springfield Avenue, leaving one lane open in each direction + motorists advised to use alternate routes.

The work will finish by Friday, August 7.

Willard Airport in Savoy will host Global Entry interviews for conditionally approved applicants July 28-30 in the second floor conference room from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Free parking is available for the first two hours and applicants must bring a valid passport and primary ID).
