- ➤ Champaign County workers ratified a new union contract on Saturday after voting 94% in favor with AFSCME Local 900—raising full-time wages to $18, lowering health insurance premiums and adding free rabies vaccines for Animal Control staff. WAND
- ➤ Champaign County workers represented by AFSCME Local 900 voted overwhelmingly to ratify a new union contract from meetings held Wednesday to Friday, with 94% of votes in favor. The contract—reached Tuesday night just before a planned strike—will save on health insurance costs, raise pay for low-wage workers, and keep free rabies vaccines available for animal control staff. - ➤ The Village of St. Joseph is asking 35 adjacent homeowners to join through voluntary annexation to boost its population for state motor fuel tax purposes and rebates; invitation letters will be sent in the coming weeks. Homeowners who join will receive a property tax rebate and monthly services — an informational meeting will be held soon. WCIA
