- ➤ Champaign launched a new website—designed to give locals details about events at the new Downtown Plaza—to inform residents about summer programming. The schedule includes weekly Sound Bites on Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with lunch and live music and a Tuesday farmers market from 3 to 6 p.m. featuring live music and a festival district where adults can purchase alcoholic beverages. - ➤ Over the weekend, firefighters in Champaign rescued nine ducklings from a storm drain on Town Center Blvd — and Springfield crews rescued four ducklings from a storm drain during a similar call. WCIA

- ➤ The U of I Extension will host a free webinar on food safety to teach community members strategies to lower contamination risks in fresh produce. The event will take place on Sept 10 (4-5 p.m.) and requires registration by Sept 3. WCIA
