- ➤ A Champaign County jury is now deliberating William Wesley’s three-day trial on four counts of first-degree murder for allegedly killing Marcus Catchings during a drug deal gone wrong on July 3 — the verdict remains pending. WCIA
- ➤ Champaign man Corey Butler, 22, pleaded guilty to murdering Daniyjah Staples during a July 28 parking lot shooting on Cynthia Drive and was sentenced to 25 years in prison with 121 days served—his crime also claimed the life of 18-year-old George Dorris-Rodgers and injured two others. WICS
- ➤ Champaign police are investigating a shooting on the 4000 block of Balmoral Dr. where a 19-year-old man sustained multiple gunshot wounds in an exchange on Thursday night at 11:51 p.m.—he is now stable in the hospital and police urge anyone with information to call CrimeStoppers. WAND
