  • Champaign-Urbana will host a series of fall parades starting with the annual Labor Day parade in downtown Champaign on September 1—featuring candy and family activities—and continuing with events like the Arcola Broomcorn Festival and the University of Illinois Homecoming Parade on September 26 to offer community festivities and local pride.  ChambanaMoms

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Champaign police reported that 37-year-old Matthew Mayberry died after his motorcycle went off the road and struck a light pole at the intersection of Bloomington Road and Mattis Avenue Saturday at 7:30 p.m.—officers briefly closed lanes for cleanup and are still investigating the crash.  WAND
  • The Urbana Fire Department investigated an overnight fire that started in a shed and spread to a mobile home on the 1700 block of Wilson Road — residents evacuated safely and the fire was controlled in less than 15 minutes.  WAND
