- ➤ After 26 years, Ebertfest ended its run at the Virginia Theater in Champaign-Urbana due to financial challenges—organizers plan to explore new ways to celebrate Roger Ebert’s film legacy. WICS
- ➤ The Equity and Engagement Department joined El Grito celebration—an event honoring Mexican heritage and independence—where they distributed Know Your Rights booklets, shared giveaway items and hosted a photo booth—helping local vendors connect with community members. City of Champaign
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Bromley Companies and the University of Illinois announced a plan for a 400-bed suite-style residence hall for first-year students located blocks from the main quad. The Bromley Commons hall will open ahead of fall 2027 — it will feature a full-service dining hall, study lounges, fitness facilities and outdoor spaces. WAND
