  • Miller turned her grief into a nonprofit—A Cry For You—that supports mothers who lost children to gun violence after her son died in 2020. The organization will hold its second-annual Sons and Daughters in Heaven Gala on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 3 p.m. in Urbana to raise funds for its mission.  WAND

  • U.S. Air Force Maj. Cameron Jones—a UIUC graduate from Illinois—was chosen on Monday from over 8,000 applicants to join NASA's 2025 astronaut class and train for two years at NASA's Johnson Space Center for future missions to the moon and Mars.  WAND
