ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Cities of Champaign and Urbana, Village of Savoy, Champaign County, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the Champaign County Soil and Water Conservation District will host the Illinois Green Infrastructure and Erosion Control Conference on October 28 with free admission if you register. - ➤ The City of Champaign will host America Recycles Day at Boneyard Creek: Clean-Up to pick up trash from rights-of-way and creeks on Saturday, October 25 from 10:00am to noon. Volunteers will meet at the north end of the North First Street Parking Lot next to Prosperity Gardens at 302 N. First St.—they will receive gloves, buckets, safety vests and a free pizza lunch along with reusable canvas bags and t-shirts. City of Champaign
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The University of Illinois is competing in the nationwide We Give Blood drive and will hold a Homecoming Week blood drive next week to help end a severe blood shortage. The drive runs Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Illini Union—1401 W Green St—and donors can receive a limited-edition Homefield T-shirt. WICS
- ➤ The University of Illinois is in sixth place in a Big Ten blood drive competition aimed at increasing donations — the contest runs through December 5 with the winning school set to receive $1 million for community or student health. WAND
