- ➤ On Tuesday, September 23, police, Mayor Feinen, and Neighborhood Services staff met with community members at Parlor Doughnut for Coffee with a Cop. The quarterly program lets residents ask questions and share concerns and will have its final event announced soon—details will follow on CPD’s social channels. City of Champaign
- ➤ Luxury apartment buildings for students paying 1000 dollars per room have risen near the University, yet residents just a few blocks away struggle as shelters reach full capacity and local agencies deal with growing calls. A January count showed 355 people homeless and many have been forced to live in cars or tents—emergency help is in short supply. The Daily Illini

- ➤ Champaign-Urbana public libraries offer kid-friendly spaces with rotating activities, story times, and digital tools that invite children and families to explore learning and fun—visitors can use the spaces even without a library card. Multiple branches, including Champaign Public Library, Douglass Branch, Urbana Free Library, Mahomet Public Library, and Tolono Public Library District, host creative programs for all ages. - ➤ On September 23rd, City Attorney Thomas Yu gave a talk on 'The Asian American Experience in Local Government' at the University of Illinois Asian American Cultural Center. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ State regulators approved OSF Healthcare's plan to reduce services at its Urbana location on Thursday by a 9–0 vote—part of a merger with its Danville campus. The service cuts will begin on January 1 and will be offset by available care at Carle Foundation Hospital one mile away. WAND
