- ➤ On Sunday, the 'A Cry for You' gala at Eastland Suites in Urbana brought together mothers from Champaign County who lost their children to gun violence to find help and support. Founder Yvonne Miller—who started the program after her son died in 2020—said the event gave hope as leaders like state Senator Faraci talked about ways to stop more violence. WICS

- ➤ A memorial bell toll is scheduled to sound at St. Francis Catholic Church in Teutopolis today at 8:41 p.m.— the time when a no-passing crash in September 2023 claimed five lives, and firetrucks with lights on from various agencies will be present to honor the victims. WAND

- ➤ The University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine will host its annual Vet Med Open House on Sunday, Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Urbana—featuring interactive exhibits such as sheep shearing, a fistulated cow demonstration and dog obedience training under a Night at the Museum theme.
