- ➤ The Champaign Plan Commission voted against recommending University Place Christian Church as a landmark because demolition permits are in place and the nearly 90-year-old church is being sold to fund a new apartment building on Wright Street—community members oppose the move. The City Council will decide the church's final fate on October 14 and services now take place at the YMCA on the University of Illinois campus. WICS
