Good morning, Champaign.
🏘️ Community
Today, Cross Construction begins asphalt milling and paving work on Staley Road from about 1,000 feet south of Curtis Road to 100 feet north of Windsor Road.
Two-way traffic is maintained though temporary lane closures and flaggers alternating direction may cause delays until work finishes on Friday, Oct. 23.
🌲 Environment
Today from 8 to 10 a.m., University Facilities and Services, Public Safety, and the Champaign Fire Department will conduct an oil spill drill near Boneyard Creek by releasing green dye from Abbott Power Plant drains; emergency vehicles and a mobile command center may appear near Bardeen Quadrangle (testing response).
🏛️ Government
The Village of Mahomet ended discussions with Clean Cloud Energy over a potential data center project Monday after residents voiced strong opposition during a Saturday meeting.
Village officials said the decision reflects community input and that future projects will better meet long-term priorities — feedback drove the change.
