- ➤ The C-U Safe Routes to School Project in partnership with local schools in Urbana is set to celebrate International Walk to School Day today, drawing a large turnout from students, parents, and community leaders including Mayor DeShawn Williams and the Chief of Police — the event will promote safer walking and biking routes and strengthen community bonds. - ➤ The Marching Illini from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign were chosen from over 100 national applicants and will perform as one of 10 bands in the 100th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2026—news that surprised the student musicians. WICS
