- ➤ My Morning Out, a decades-old half-day child care program in Champaign, is in danger of closing due to a drop in enrollment and financial hardship. The program is seeking $30,000 in donations to stay open through December—director Maggie Keeley said building restrictions prevent extending care hours. ChambanaMoms
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Illinois American Water and Shaw Brothers will close Vine Street between Prospect Avenue and New Street from Monday, October 13 to Friday, October 17 for pavement patching—northbound traffic on Prospect Avenue between Columbia Avenue and Vine Street will be limited to one lane until Wednesday, October 15. - ➤ A recent study shows Illinois teens in Champaign are drinking nearly twice the national average, with some getting alcohol via delivery apps — experts warn this early use can lead to addiction and serious health problems. WAND
- ➤ The Sangamon Valley Public Water District issued a boil order last Wednesday for residents in Mahomet who must boil their water for at least 5 minutes before using it for cooking, drinking, or cleaning—this order covers areas along South Lake of the Woods Road including Sportsman's Club Campground, Karadan Drive, Ranch Lane, Sugar Lane and Summit Ridge Road. The district said it will lift the order once the water quality meets safety standards. WAND
