- ➤ On November 3, Rantoul police and the FBI swiftly resolved an online threat to RISE Academy when they identified and interviewed a juvenile suspect who admitted making the post—classes resumed normally on November 4. WICS
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Several holiday light displays will be on view in Central Illinois, including the long-running Candlestick Lane in Urbana, early events in Effingham, and creative scenes in Shelbyville. Many shows will run from late November through January — offering festive drives with free admission or a suggested donation. ChambanaMoms
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents are urged to compost their Jack-O-Lanterns after Halloween to cut food waste and boost local farm produce, said agriculturalist Ann Swanson—she warned that painted pumpkins with chemicals may harm the composting process. WAND
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Feutz Contractors will patch pavement on Sadler Drive between Worcester Drive and Southwood Drive today at 7 a.m. for an emergency repair, closing the road near 1817 Sadler Drive until November 10 — local traffic may use the rest of the street. City of Champaign
- ➤ Louisiana Avenue between Harris Avenue and Elm Street is closed for sanitary sewer repairs at 505 Louisiana Avenue due to work by Berg Tanks that began November 4—local access remains though through traffic is blocked and the road will reopen Monday November 10, weather permitting. - ➤ Feutz Contractors will repair the pavement on Clover Lane between Sumac Drive and Bittersweet Drive near 2310; the road is closed starting today at 7 a.m.—local traffic may use the rest of the street until the closure ends on November 10. City of Champaign
