COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Literary restaurant in Champaign launched the Oh SNAP menu on November 1 — giving one free meal per day to SNAP card holders for two adults and all children. Owner Jenny Shima said the community donated nearly $12,000 in five days and the free meals will continue until SNAP benefits are restored. WAND
- ➤ Residents and families in Champaign-Urbana can honor veterans every day by visiting many memorials and museums across the area—sites like the Veterans Memorial in Savoy and the Champaign County History Museum share local military stories. ChambanaMoms
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sub 4 Construction closed Second Street between Armory Avenue and Gregory Drive for crane placement and material delivery at 105 E. Armory Avenue—local properties keep access via Gregory Drive—and the street will reopen Friday, November 7 if weather permits. The closure began on November 5 and stops through traffic while allowing access to nearby properties. City of Champaign
- ➤ For Veterans Day on Nov 11, Champaign schools will be open—while federal, state, county and city offices, post offices and courts will be closed. University of Illinois, libraries, museums and transit will follow regular hours—and parking meters will remain active. ChambanaMoms
