ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Champaign County Forest Preserve District announced that construction on a 3.6 mile section of the Kickapoo Rail Trail connecting St. Joseph to Ogden will begin in November, as part of a planned 24.5 mile trail linking Urbana to Kickapoo State Park. The project faces a $1.85 million funding gap and the Forest Preserve Friends Foundation launched a fundraising campaign to meet the shortfall by April 1, 2026—other segments are scheduled to start construction in 2026.
