- ➤ Yesterday, students at Centennial High School set up a field of over 700 American flags on the school lawn to honor local veterans and active duty archers during the second annual Field of Flags event in anticipation of Veterans Day Tuesday — the event saw support from families and military alumni despite cold weather. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ This month, construction begins on a 3.6-mile section of the Kickapoo Rail Trail that connects the trail in St. Joseph to Ogden—initial work includes preparing the site along the old rail bed and finalizing the crossing with Union Pacific Railroad. The project received an $11.2 million grant but still needs $1.8 million, so a fundraising campaign is underway to fill the gap by April 1. ChambanaMoms
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Champaign City Council voted 7-0 for Carle Arrow Ambulance to become Champaign’s sole ambulance provider under a five-year contract that will take effect on Nov 15 — Arrow will respond to 911 calls, supply four ambulances, train new EMTs and cover all expenses. The agreement comes after Advanced Medical Transport announced it would end its emergency service in Champaign — ensuring no other provider will serve the city. The Daily Illini
